In order not to lose its specificity, however, we cannot think of virtual space as mere simulation of space. McFadden's reference to agents duly shifts our attention to the concept of virtual space as a space of action, an active space, a space of events, which, as informational, is a cultural product.21 [Such a product], however, is not simply “external” or other than the mind-body that perceives and interprets it, is not an alterity comprehensible by means of perceptual and mental operations. Rather, it is an internal-external product insofar as it is constituted by interaction and inhabited through the interaction (I do not believe, as is often claimed, that such a space is currently actualized in computer networks, even though it may become an extroflection of them in the future insofar as there do not seem to be theoretical motivations why [Internet] sites may not structure themselves as virtual spaces). In this regard, Queau has brought attention to two interesting elements: in his view, virtual space is

a database of interactive graphics that can be explored and visualized in real time in the form of three-dimensional computer-generated images to give the feeling of immersion into the image. In more complex forms, the virtual environment is an authentic “synthetic space” in which one can experience the sensation of being able to move “physically.”22
